Women Supporting Women On Strike!

The employees of the Sudbury branches of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce have been on strike for about six months. These employees are mostly women. The women's committee within a Steelworkers local in the city are organizing local women activists in support of the striking workers. Here is the information that I received in a relayed email:

Women of the Community Unite In Support of Striking CIBC Workers

Hi All,

The Local 2020 Women of Steel have planned an event in Support of the CIBC employees who have been on Strike for 6 months. We are inviting all Women Activists in the Community to come out join us on Thurs July 17th, from 5 to 7 pm at the Steel Hall to show your support for these workers (who are mainly Women) We will have a BBQ outside (Steelworker Retirees have volunteered to cook) and then move inside the Hall for Coffee and a Guest Speaker and to Brainstorm some ideas/plans to help the CIBC Workers win their fight for an equitable settlement.

We would appreciate it if you could let us know if you plan to attend (so we can get some idea of the numbers for food). Please feel free to invite other Women Activists to attend.

I look forward to seeing you all on July 17th,

Linda
