When I blogged about this back in the fall, I had understood it was a done deal. However, there still seems to be a chance that the change won't happen. Anyway, here's a fairly detailed article on the intention of the U.S. Bureau of Labour Statistics to stop collecting business payroll data by gender later in 2005, and the efforts by a number of groups -- the AFL-CIO, Business and Professional Women-USA, the National Organization of Women, the National Council of Women's Organizations, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the American Civil Liberties Union, to name a few -- to lobby the Bureau to maintain this important data set.
